javascript maturity

Over the past year, big players (google, apple, mozilla, adobe) kinda entered in a performance race on javascript. So now javascript is quite fast, in the same order of magnitude than other main scripting language like ruby or python. Javascript as a language got all the modern features you can see in others. Additionally, it is already known by a lot of people due to its presence in all browsers.

So all seem great with js ? well not exactly, because js has no library for desktop scripting while ruby/python got tons of it...

Who will take one of the existing js engine and push all the desktop library from python or ruby ? Not me clearly :) but it seems a good project, big but not complex
